How to wean your toddler off the bottle easily

We are coming to the end of what seems like a life time of having bottles in our house. It’s not something that has happened over night. We have been doing small changes to get to the end goal of no bottles. I thought I would share with you what we have done. Just incase any of the things we have done will help you. How to wean toddler from bottle Dropping the nap time bottle This was the first thing we did. I started to notice that Alby wasn’t really needing a bottle to go down for a nap. He was just messing around with it. Or throwing it…

BIBaDO a bib that really does DO what it’s meant to : review

Mealtimes are the main reason why my washing basket is never empty . That’s because Ava ends up with half her food on her lap. We have chosen to do baby led weaning meaning it can be really messy. So when I was recently approached by the lovely people over at BIBaDO to review their mealtime bib I was curious to if it would make meal time less messy . As one of their claims is that they promise that the BIBaDO will do its best to catch the mealtime mess. The other night we had a meal of chicken and rice which is normally a nightmare to clean up .…

Why baby led weaning works for us

When I started to wean Ava I didn’t really have a plan of how I was going to do it . I wasn’t one of those moms that had recipe books for purées or made batches of frozen puréed food . I just went with the flow and it ended up with us doing baby led weaning. I did start Ava on some purées and porridge  at 4 months just because she was a hungry baby . She didn’t have something everyday to start with just every now and again . Once she was 6 months this is when I stared to be more adventurous . The Ella’s kitchen pouches where fab…

Days out made easier by Mamia #MamiaDaysOut

This post is an entry for BritMums #MamiaDaysOut linky challenge, sponsored by Aldi Mamia. Taking Ava out is normally pretty stress free she has always loved being around people. I am now starting to find that she gets bored whilst in her pushchair. She either starts shouting at the top of her voice or crying . I have tried taking toys along with me and for a little while this works. Then once she is bored she throws them out normally landing in someone’s path. Then I have to do a very inelegant leap to save them from falling on them. I have now become that mom who takes snack with her…

    Tommee Tippee mealtime accessories :review

When we were buying bottles for Ava the first brand I looked at was Tommee Tippee. This brand is trusted amongst many parents I know . The products are always of high quality , so when the guys over at Tommee Tippee asked if I would like to review some of their other products . I straight away said yes . As were weaning Ava these products were put to the test straight away. The first thing we used was the dribble catching weaning bib. Unlike most weaning bibs it comes up really high under the chin meaning her clothes underneath stay nice and clean. Also as it is material…

    Ella’s kitchen 6 and 7 month range

When I started to wean Ava the first brand I looked to was Ella’s kitchen as I had heard so many good things about their products . I wasn’t disappointed at all and we are still enjoying trying their products as Ava grows up . Recently we tried some of their 6 months range pouches. Which Ava loved the thick purée as it  was full of flavour . A lot of the different meals that have been made into the pouches I wouldn’t eat myself being a picky eater . So I’m glad that Ella’s kitchen do a wide range for Ava to try. We then tried some of their…

Our weaning journey with Organix continues

As you may have seen in a previous post at Easter we teamed up with Organix to make some cute Easter bunnies using Organix products . Not that we got as far as making them. Ava isn’t much of a morning person when it comes to food but I thought I would give the multi-grain mini cereal puffs ago . As expected first thing in the morning she wasn’t to keen and I don’t blame her I’m not a breakfast person either. I did try her again at lunch time and she loved it . It took her a little bit to get used to the texture of them but after that…

Weaning made easy with the Béaba Babycook plus

When I first started to think about weaning Ava I really wanted to make everything myself so I knew exactly what she was having. I did try a few times but found the equipment I had just didn’t do the job good enough and was really time consuming. So sadly I had given up on homemade meals . So when I was approached by Béaba to see if I would like to review their Babycook plus I was over the moon. I was hoping that this piece of equipment would help me achieve the goal I had in the start to give Ava homemade meals. The Béaba baby cook is…

Our Weaning Journey so far with Ella’s Kitchen

A couple of weeks ago now we were very kindly sent some Ella’s kitchen pouches to try. It was really cute that the box came addressed to Ava as after all it was going to be for her to enjoy not me.( I have tried some of them not going to lie !). Inside the box was some green shredded paper which has been great for some sensory exploration. So as soon as she was old enough for them I thought I would start introducing some of the different flavours to her . I had made sure that Ava was ready for weaning by talking to my health visitor who…

The plastic is also BPA free which is huge plus for me . Whist working in nurserys we have used a different branded bib around the same idea as the Catcherz bib but i…

Baby led weaning whats it all about ?

Baby Led weaning is something I knew I always wanted to do with my children. After working in a nursery and seeing all different ways of children being weaned it’s one that appealed to me the most. Mainly because I’m lazy and I don’t want to be standing there for hours on end. Making my own meals for them or mashing things up. I wanted to make my life as easy as I possibly could. I Know this probably sounds really selfish but that’s the way I see it is. If I do BabyLed weaning I will have more time on my hands. More time to do things with them…
