Tour de France inspired craft : T-shirt number line
This months crafts theme is Tour de France. Now I’m not going to lie I didn’t really know a lot about it. So I had a quick google and quickly it became apparent it was all about bikes. The Tour de France is an annual male multiple stage bicycle race that primarily takes place in France. Nearly 200 cyclists race over 2,000 miles in 23 days ! . This year the Tour de France will start on the 7th July and end 29th July and it will be the 105th edition of the race.
So now I know what it’s all about I got thinking about what craft we could do. I noticed when I was looking it up on the internet. The cyclists had brightly coloured T-shirts with different patterns and designs on. So I thought this was something I could replicate with Ava. She is also still very keen on numbers so I thought it would be a good idea to include numbers in our craft.

What you will need
- Card,
- felt tip pens,
- Things to decorate ( optional ),
- Glue ( Optional),
- Glu dots,
- String,
- Scissors.
First of all you will need to make two t-shirt templates. I did one big and one small so I could alternate the sizes of the t-shirts on our number line. This will also make a good talking point with your child as you can bring in size language to the conversation. Also you can look at reoccurring patterns ( big, small, big, small etc….)
Once you have got your two templates you will need to draw around them on some card. I did 5 small and 5 big as I wanted the number line to go up to 10.
You will then need to cut them all out and decorate them. I let Ava go crazy with pens, glue and sticking. You can decorate them however you wish to.
Once decorated and the glue is dry if you have done sticking you will need to number them.
I then attached the number t-shirts to some string using Glu dots and hung it on the wall for Ava to enjoy. She liked looking at all the different things she had stuck on them. Talking about all the different colours and also using different number names trying to count to 10.
So there you have it Our tour de France number line. If you’re looking for some more craft ideas then click here.
