Welcoming a new baby into your family is a very exciting time indeed. However, it will also be very busy as well as you will have an endless to-do list! Write Your Birth Story

Most parents want to remember the births of all their children, especially their firstborn. And the best way to do this is to write about it. In fact, you can now buy many special baby notebooks in which you can jot down all your notes and memories. It’s a good idea to do this as soon as you can once you are home. That way, you aren’t likely to forget anything! You probably won’t get the chance to write anything down while you are in hospital as there is so much going on. So hang on till you are home and you can relax with your baby.

Let Everyone Know

All of your friends and family will be extremely excited about your new arrival, and they will want to know as soon as possible! You will no doubt have already called your parents and siblings to let them know your happy news. So what about everyone else? For most people, sharing the news on Facebook is the easiest way of letting everyone know. But if you want to do things the traditional way, you could always send out some Sleepymoon Cards with a picture of your new-born on.

Write Down Any Questions

Once you step into your home with your new child, you will realise that you are totally responsible for the baby. There won’t be anyone looking over your shoulder telling you exactly what you need to do! So if you do find that you have any questions about any aspect of looking after your baby, you need to write them down. That way, you can always ask your health visitor whenever they visit. Writing them down means that you won’t forget!

Book A Doctor’s Appointment For Your Baby

Just before you leave the hospital with your newborn, your doctor or nurses will tell you when your doctor will need to see the baby. Usually, this is within the first two weeks. Once you get home, be sure to book the appointment straight away so that you don’t risk forgetting. The doctor will want to check your baby’s weight and make sure that he or she is growing at the right rate. Another reason for getting this appointment booked once you get home is that you may find that your doctor is busy. You might have to book well in advance to make sure you get an appointment when the doctors and nurses at the hospital suggested.

Think About Your Appointment With The Doctor

It isn’t just your baby who will need to see the doctor shortly after the birth. You will need to book an appointment for yourself as well. This is because labour is a very intense process and will take a lot out of your body. It is important that you see your doctor to make sure that your body is recovering appropriately. You can wait a bit longer for your appointment, unlike your baby. In fact, you can probably wait until about six weeks after the birth to see the doctor.

Ask For Help

Don’t be afraid to ask anyone for help with your newborn. Having a baby isn’t easy, especially if it is your first. Thankfully, there is a great support network of doctors, nurses and health visitors who are all there to help you whenever you have a question or need a helping hand. And don’t forget about all your friends and family. They will love helping you out with your baby especially when they can get some cuddles with the baby!

Hopefully, this blog post has given you a good idea of all the things you need to do once you get home with your new baby. Once you have done all of these important jobs, you can concentrate on getting your baby all settled into their new home.  Once you have got all the important stuff out of the way, you can also start welcoming guests to come and meet your cute new bundle of joy!
