The living room is, perhaps, the most important room in the family home. This is because it is somewhere that you will spend quality time together and create many happy memories whether it is watching TV, playing a board game or simply enjoying each other’s company.
When designing this room, it is far too easy to forget about the kids and instead focus on decorating it to your own personal taste. This is their space as well, so it is important to make this a room that the whole family can enjoy. Here are a few different ways that you can do this.
It is understandable that parents do not want toys strewn all over the house – in addition to cluttering space, they are also a dangerous trip hazard. Instead of stopping your little ones from playing with their toys in the lounge, simply buy a few toy boxes so that you (or they) can quickly tidy them away and keep the living area clean.
Board games are a fantastic family activity as they can be as much for mum and dad as the kids. Have a range of board games that you can play together (there are many modern variations on old classics that you can all enjoy) and try to play these instead of watching the television each night.
Comfort is paramount when it comes to the living room, so be sure to have lots of furniture that is comfortable for the entire family. Places like Cox & Cox have luxury sofas, chairs, stools and more to create the perfect environment for relaxing. In addition to this, beanbags and rugs are great for children as it allows them to continue playing whilst on the floor.
Everyone likes to hang attractive artwork in their home, but there should also be plenty of space for creations by your little ones! Show off their artistic skills by proudly hanging their artwork in your lounge to create a fun atmosphere (this will also encourage them to continue developing their creative skills).
The lounge should always be somewhere that is for the whole family. It is important to decorate it tastefully so that it is somewhere that you enjoy spending time, but it is also vital that this is somewhere that the kids enjoy spending time too. This way, you are sure to create many happy memories here together over the years.
How do you ensure that your living area works for the whole family ?
