second child syndrome- is it real?!

Hello I’m Faye from Glossytots and I am here writing for the lovely Jess. Today I will be talking about my new found worry in life. Is a second child supposed to put the fear factor into your life? Erin is now 5. She is desperate for a brother and a sister (I don’t think I can go that far- especially as I have to have IVF). Matt and I would like to add to our little family, but this does bring elements of “fear of change” for me. Currently Erin resides with her Dad 6 nights over a 2 week period- every other weekend and 3 nights 5.30pm-8am. That…

Eating out on Christmas day , why we do it

When you think of having Christmas dinner . Do you think about someone stressing in the kitchen because the potatoes wont go right. Or the turkey wont fit in the oven because yet again dad ordered one too big for the oven. Well not me when I think of Christmas dinner. I think about going out to a nice restaurant and having it all done for me. I’m not the worlds best cook if I’m honest.I couldn’t think of anything worse than spending half the morning in the kitchen cooking. I want to be there to witness Ava open all her presents. I don’t want to be told that she…

Today is the day we finally get some answers: Ava’s feet

Today is the day when we finally get some answers. Since Ava started walking I noticed that her feet turn in a little. To start with I wasn’t too concerned as she was little and I just thought it would be something she would grow out of. As she got older more people started to comment about it and this is when I started to get a little more concerned. As a child my feet turned slightly in also and my mom had to seek medical advice to help me . So I suppose it was bound to be passed on to at least one of my children. At first…

Simple steps to a lasting relationship

This is a collaborative post  Being in a relationship comes with its ups and downs, especially if you and your partner have been together for a long period of time. Although the love for each other may still be very strong, sometimes it’s easy to find yourself in the same routine day in, day out. Having a long lasting relationship requires time and effort from both partners, as well as getting the balance right between work, seeing friends and spending time together. It’s also important to have “you time”. There are lots of things needed to make a relationship last. I thought I would list a few of the areas…

Final few weeks of pregnancy: these include a membrane sweep and maybe an induction

.Ahh today I have been for my first membrane sweep, sadly it was unsuccessful as my cervix is still too high . Thankfully this time around they are starting to do things a lot earlier and I have an appointment next week to try again .In the hope I wont go over due. With Ava no one touched me until my due date. Then as I wasn’t really dilated so they couldn’t do anything. Then left me to literally the last moment.  To then they left me on an induction ward for a whole day twiddling my thumbs. I know people are probably reading this and thinking .He will come when…

How will I know I’m in labour ?

I know it wasn’t that long ago since I had Ava but I really cannot remember what labour was like . I know it hurt a hell of a lot and I just wanted it to be over . But for the life of me I cannot remember what the run up to it was like. I’m sure when it happens in a few weeks time it will all come flooding back to me . As I like to be prepared for any occasion I thought I would ask some fellow parent bloggers about their labour . So how did they know they were in labour ? What signs did…

Toddlers learn the most annoying things

There are many things that toddlers learn and you think gosh that’s adorable . But most things make you think god I wish they would just be quite. We are having at the moment no to everything even if she actually means yes . So in a morning I will give her the option of different breakfast items .To which she says no to every single one so I put them back. This then turns into the worlds biggest breakdown throwing herself on the floor , running away screaming . Then when she finally calms down she comes to the cupboard and picks exactly what I was trying to give…

Last week at work until my maternity leave

    I cannot believe that this time next week i will be finishing work to start my maternity leave . This time around I haven’t been so excited shall we say to finish . I’m not sure if it’s the thought of being at home with two kids or the fact that I feel like I was just getting back into work . I only returned back to work in January of this year after taking over 12 months off with Ava. I went back to work to a whole new position. So I feel I have been ;

Today I wrote my birth plan let’s hope it all goes to plan.

When I was pregnant with Ava I did a birth plan like you do with every pregnancy . But there really wasn’t any point to writing it as nothing I wanted happened due to having an emergency c section . As I like to put it all my birth plans just went out the window. So when I was told today that I was going to write my birth plan with my midwife. I really just thought what is the point in this . I think because of my birth with Ava I’m just don’t think this one will be easy and that saddens me . I would love to…

    My pregnancy at 34 weeks

I’m 34 weeks today and have been to the hospital for a scan . So it only seemed right that I did a little update about how things have been going on . I haven’t been doing these every week as one my pregnancy isn’t that eventful and two who wants to read every week that I’m tired and just want to have had him now. A whole lot of pumpkin fun

You may have seen last week we visited a pick your own pumpkin farm . We did this last year with Ava but as she wasn’t even one yet she didn’t really care too much for It . This year she was loving it running up and down the pumpkin field. Touching the different pumpkins mainly saying they were yack ! But she did have a great time and we got some awesome picture that I’m sure we will treasure for years to come. Now I have to be honest I’m not the biggest fan of carving pumpkins mainly because of the smell. But in life we have to do…

What to put in your hospital bag

As I said in a post the other day I’m really not organised at all for this baby to come, I haven’t even thought about my hospital bag. In fact writing the post made me realise how laid back about it all I am being this time. Also it was nice to see from comments that I’m not the only one that is laid back to second time around. I think I’m starting to struggle with not being organised as I’m normally ultra organised. So I thought it was about time I made a list of things I needed to get for my hospital bag. Even though it wasn’t that…

Why am i not organised the second time around ?

II really need to start getting organised for baby number 2. I think at this point with Ava 31 weeks pregnant .I had brought the whole of next baby department, ticked of lists of essential products that we needed, and more than likely packed my hospital bags. This time around we have decorated his room and he has enough clothes to last him a week maybe. The beautiful organised room that was on Instagram the other week is now been transformed into toy storage. As it has all of Ava’s Christmas presents in there.including a fan that really needs to go to the tip but that’s a lot of effort.…

Magicube by Geomag review and giveaway

I’m always on the look out for new and exciting toys to entertain Ava with. At the moment she is loving animals so when we were offered the Magicube safari and polar animal set to review I knew they would be a winner. It even keeps grandparents entertained which is a bonus. My dad sent me this picture just moments after me leaving him and Ava to explore the Magicubes.   As soon as Ava got the box’s out she was excited the bright and vibrant packaging is really inviting. In fact I had to put one aside so she could just look at the one set .unlike most toys…
